Preliminary research at Tactical Connections identified the lack of environmental waste treatment programs as a substantial gap in the GCC marketplace. At the time most municipalities were operating their own waste management programs with substantial inefficiencies, limited environmental planning and no recycling capabilities.
Tactical Connections spent a number of months doing research and analysis in order to develop a plan that would deliver both environmental and commercial value to the Emirate of Sharjah.
The plan was to create an organization that would motivate the residential and business communities to take action on the environment – and support the government’s effort to develop the recycling infrastructure needed to bring the country up to international standards.
Tactical Connections proposed the establishment of an environmental public-private partnership to the Ruler of Sharjah H.H. Dr. Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi.
They made two commitments – take an ongoing expense item on the municipal P&L and turn it into an asset that would create financial value for the Emirate.
The second commitment was to make Sharjah the regional leader in effective waste management and recycling programs. His Highness was already motivated to address environmental issues for Sharjah’s community and as a result decreed the formation of Bee’ah, the Sharjah Environment Co. LLC.
